Datin Emeritus Prof. Dr. Chia Yook Chin is Head of the Department of Medical Sciences at Sunway University and Honorary Professor in the Department of Primary Care Medicine at Universiti Malaya, bringing distinguished credentials in primary care medicine, hypertension, cardiovascular risk, and elderly care. A pioneering academic and clinician, she was instrumental in establishing Malaysia's first Master of Family Medicine program at Universiti Malaya in 1989, a landmark achievement that fundamentally shaped medical education in the region. Building on this legacy, she initiated the Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Care for the Elderly at Sunway University in 2020, continuing her commitment to advancing specialty care education. Her numerous publications in leading journals address key clinical areas including hypertension, cardiovascular risk, and elderly care, reflecting her sustained scholarly productivity and clinical impact. Recognition of her exceptional contributions includes the Professor Emeritus title awarded by Universiti Malaya and the prestigious 2022 Graham MacGregor Excellence Award from the World Hypertension League.
