Dr. Sharimila Shanmugam is a 4th Year Cardiology Clinical Fellow at Institut Jantung Negara with an MBBS from Melaka Manipal Medical College and MRCP qualification from the Royal College of Physicians London. Building on her background in internal medicine and infectious diseases, Dr. Sharimila has developed advanced expertise in cardiology spanning interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure management, preventive cardiology, and women's cardiovascular health. In her clinical role, she manages diverse and complex cardiovascular cases, demonstrating both clinical depth and breadth. Beyond direct patient care, she has assumed significant organizational responsibilities, including committee chair membership and key organizing roles for major cardiology congresses. Her academic contributions include publications on acute myocardial infarction following COVID vaccination, cardiac imaging assessment, and cardiology case presentations, with presentations delivered at leading international conferences including TCTAP, APHRS, and NHAM, alongside active participation in research on cardiac amyloidosis and clinical trial initiatives.
