Prof Dr. Suzana Shahar is Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia since 2019 and Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics, bringing over 30 years of expertise in nutrition science, dietetics, and gerontology. A graduate of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's nutrition program, Prof Shahar earned her Masters in Medical Sciences from Sheffield in 1994 and her PhD in Human Nutrition in 1998, advancing to the rank of Professor in 2010 and VK6 in 2020. Her distinguished career includes serving as Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation from 2010 to 2015, heading the Centre for Healthy Ageing and Wellness from 2016 to 2019, and serving as Deputy Leader of the Grand Challenge on B40 from 2017 to 2019. Prof Shahar has led influential initiatives including serving as Chief Editor of the Malaysian Journal of Health Sciences, heading the Key Message initiatives for the Malaysia Dietary Guidelines, and serving as national advisor on salt reduction policy and healthy food choice logo development. Her leading research in nutritional epidemiology and aging wellness encompasses numerous publications establishing her as a prominent voice in gerontological nutrition and wellness.
